East Meadow's NUMC Named Top in Maternity Care

The medical center was named among the top 10 percent in the nation according to a recent report.

Nassau University Medical Center is in the top 10 percent for maternity care and gynecologic surgery according to a recent report from Healthgrades, a provider of information that helps consumers make an informed decision about a physician or hospital.

NuHealth President Arthur Gianelli said that he is proud of his staff.

“I am delighted to recognize NUMC’s OB/GYN department for both its Gynecologic Surgery 2012 and Maternity Care 2011-2012 Excellence Awards," he said. "It is a testament to the expertise of the clinical staff and for attaining levels of optimal performance required to ensure best outcomes for patients undergoing gynecologic procedures and for pregnant women giving birth in our maternity unit."

The Healthgrades report, "American Hospital Quality Outcomes 2013: Healthgrades Report to the Nation," evaluates how approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide performed on risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for nearly 30 of the most common conditions treated and procedures performed from 2009 through 2011.

“The distinction made by Healthgrades confirms that our OB/GYN department,  is among a select group of hospitals nationwide with a growing reputation to ensure successful outcomes for our patients,” Gianelli said.
