IV Controversial Commercials from Super Bowl XLVI

Here now, not the best, not the worst but the debated.

Adweek.com (along with many other news sources) have surveyed, reviewed and analyzed ad nauseum the commercials from Super Bowl XLVI.

But before the marketers measure the lasting effects of this work, I would agree with the Adweek’s basic assumption – that is, there’s a few spots worth one more look:

Clint Eastwood for Chrysler – “It’s Halftime in America”. Once my family figured out the voice behind the voice over, we didn’t put anything more political into this spot than the idea that it was a “feel good” push for American pride. Learning after the fact that the spot wasn’t filmed in Detroit but New Orleans and other cities is disappointing – and duping – but the emotion stays in tact.

Dannon Oikos Greek Yogurt – There seems to be some suggestion that there was some “adapting” of intellectual material for the music and concept of the commercial. Doesn’t really matter to me, John Stamos' acting in this commercial is using the term loosely and the spot itself is pretty silly and not brand worthy. John gets the nod because it’s Greek yogurt? Really?

Chevy’s Apocalyptic world in which the Silverado and Hostess Twinkies make it but the Ford owner/friend and his truck do not was definately worth that second look. It’s a cool idea, but for me, it was hard to watch the destruction that was everywhere, considering the kind of natural disasters we have seen in recent years that have leveled real areas on earth with almost as much force.

And sorry Apple fans but I really did think that the Samsung’s Galaxy Note with stylus was pretty sweet as a component for their hybrid smartphone/tablet (or "phablet" as dubbed by Informationweek.com).

Oh well. Just one (of 111.3 million) opinions.
