You Are How You Eat

The flavor doesn't really matter..it's HOW you eat your ice cream cone that does!! This intensive study has remarkable findings!!

There have been many essays written to analyze the relationship between people and what they eat.

"You are what you eat," is a familiar phrase that we have been subjected to over the past years. If we eat junk food..we are fat, and most likely, unhealthy. If we eat apples and oranges..we are trim and probably, healthy. Blah, blah, blah. If you believe that food influences your appearance and health, good for you! But I am more interested in why my friends behave in a certain, unique kind of way when eating..let's say..their ice cream! I have researched (just kidding) and have concluded that the way one eats an ice cream cone has a direct correlation to their personality traits.

In this experiment, which you, too, can conduct in the privacy of your own home, observation is the key tool.

In formulating my findings, my sample group consisted of three (3) girlfriends..all consenting adults. Subjects, firstly, had to choose the type of cone they wanted..hard, soft, or a waffle bowl. The hard cone would indicate a strong personality, and the pointy tip of the cone might imply a 'sharp tongue' or 'jabbing words'. The soft cone, which breaks easily, would indicate a rather flakey personality and someone who can be easily swayed or manuevered. Having a flat bottom denotes their inability to take risks. The waffle bowl, of course, houses more ice cream than either cone, so I must say that anyone who chooses a waffle is outrageous and wants to make a statement! They are "Look at Me" kind of people.

The way in which they eat their ice cream was next to be observed. Those who pushed their ice cream downward, into the empty cone (using their tongue) were definitely 'planners.' They like stretching their dollar. They keep an itinerary when traveling. They think about their future. They like knowing that when the others are eating empty cones, or tossing away their empties, THEY, who planned ahead, still had ice cream to eat IN the bottom of their cones! They 'save for a rainy day.'

My second friend likes to eat all the ice cream from the top. She opens her mouth and sucks the life out of her strawberry flavored ice cream. She, how can I say this, EATS it!! Her behavior indicates a 'NOW PERSON.' She bought ice cream and she is eating it..now. She wants it and she wants it fast; impetuous and spontaneous! She is direct when she speaks, and sometimes may even not filter out what escapes her! She lives in the moment.

The third friend is dainty and eats accordingly. Small little licks, in a circular fashion, while turning the cone, so nothing drips, she would be considered organized, methodical, and cautious. This is the friend that took plenty of napkins from the counter, in her preparation. Others can count on her to be prepared..she will always have a pen and aspirins in her bag. She may take the longest time to complete a task, but you know..it will be perfect.

Observing the behavior of others has always been one of my favorite past times. I believe it all started while I traveled on the M train; from work to my house. What? You want to know how I eat my ice cream? Well, as for me, I don't like eating ice cream from a cone. I prefer my vanilla ice cream, in a Dixie Cup with those flat little wooden spoons..making me..reserved, contained and clean. :)

Peace.
