Heaven..a few steps away!!!

Friends! You don't have to die to find yourself in heaven. I did the leg-work, and now I share it with you.

There has been much discussion lately, about heaven and an after-life.  I have not participated until now.

I have found heaven, people..look no further..its right here in East Meadow!! Best part is that you don't have to wait till you're dead to get there!

Tucked inconspicuously, in a strip mall, on Hempstead Turnpike, is a special little shop where all your cares, aches and pains are lifted and discarded.  Foot Heaven Spa may not have the glitz and glitter of a high-end massage parlor, but I swear to all those that are reading..it IS the place to visit when your muscles are screaming.."Help me!"

I walked into the dimly lit room and was escorted to one of the many leather recliners. I had not spoken to anyone, but with the signalling of the young man's hand, I sat down. I was about to say, "I'd like the foot massage, please" but before I had a chance, this slightly built Asian young man had already removed my socks and sneakers!!

I read the small runner on the wall directly in front of me. "No Talking" I adhered to the order and since I was alone.. "Hey, hold on! I came in with my husband. Where did he go?" I looked to my left, and saw him relaxing as a sweet, young Asian girl was undressing him. Ooops! Sorry. Meant to say  "..was un-shoe-ing him."

I was left alone for a minute, and I was able to wave to my husband. "Hi, honey. I'm right here." Looking around, I saw nothing unusal. White sheer drapes were flung over a wire string that ran the length of the room. I imagined that on a windy day, they would fly freely giving a sense of heavenly surroundings.

There was piped-in music..with chimes, zen like...not to be confused with rock like. My room surveying was cut short by the return of my masseuse and the short wooden barrel filled with warm water. He placed both my feet in it, and then, came around to the back of the recliner, which mind you, was still in an upright position. Here is where my trip to heaven began.

Yes, it started at my head! He rubbed my head, back and forth and sideways. At  first, I was thinking, "What about my hair-do?!" After a few seconds, honestly, I could care less what I looked like. No one had EVER rubbed my head. His strong fingers had penetrated through my hair, through my skull and had reached my jello brain. When he moved down to my neck and shoulders, I came alive once again. It was a different sensation, altogether! He kneaded and squeezed and pulled."Oh, my!! He worked down my jiggly arms, and to my hands. For a split second, my thoughts wandered off to my husband, and if he was enjoying his massage as much as I [was.]

But, as I said, that was only for a split second. I returned to my own personal joy, and smiled, as I was pushed in to the recline position of the chair. I somehow found myself closing my eyes, and trusting the moment. Each foot/leg was stroked and rubbed and massaged.

The masseuse's hands were therapeutic, I tell you!! He worked my little toes to delirium!! My ankles, my soles, my calves (he worked up to my knees) were at his mercy! I was in oblivion. My mind was gone. My entire body was at peace. How much time had passed? Who knew and who cared? I wanted to stay here forever!!

Don't say, 'it's over,' I thought. "Hot Rocks?" I didn't really understand what he had asked of me..he had not spoken to me the entire time..but from his intonation, I realized it was a question and I answered, nodding my head, 'yes.' Whatever it is..Yes. Yes. Yes.The last part of my hour session, included these two very smooth and very hot rocks, which were rubbed against and slid upon my calves.

"Oh, my gosh..I've died and gone to heaven!" I thought. So, there you have it...a sneak preview of heaven, right here in East Meadow!

Peace.
