K-Kids Go 'K'aroling for KPTC

The kids were looking to spread holiday cheer and help a good cause.

Continuing an annual tradition, the K-Kids held their fourth annual “K”aroling for KPTC event and hot chocolate party on Dec. 9.

The K-Kids were joined by members of the Builders Club, the W.T. Clarke Key Club and Circle Kers from Adelphi University.

After dividing into four groups, the K-Kids and other K-Family members took to the streets around Bowling Green Elementary School for a little over an hour raising $400 for KPTC.

K-Kids Faculty Advisor Rich Santer expressed his gratitude to the SLP leaders who led the groups of carolers and the Kiwanis leaders and other faculty advisors who supervised the groups.

Upon the groups’ return to school, several members received NYCKI Worldwide Service Project medals from Circle K DIPG Rickie Santer. These medals recognized K-Kids members who raised over $50 trick-or-treating for Kiwanis International’s ELIMINATE project.

K-Kids Director Mia Biscardi received special recognition receiving a diamond level NYCKI worldwide service project medallion.   Faculty Advisor Rich Santer also announced that the club, as a whole, would be recognized with the Hixson Fellowship medallion thanking the club for their $1,000 contribution to the Kiwanis International Foundation.

During the Hot Chocolate Party, Levittown Kiwanis President Ann Torcivia sold holiday jewelry for the Joey Foundation.  The Joey Foundation is a generous benefactor of the KPTC Service Leadership Committee’s safe kids program.

Torcivia, who founded the Joey Foundation to honor her son’s memory, plans to use the funds raised by the jewelry sales to purchase a new safety teaching tool for the Safe Kids program.

By the end of the evening, K-Kids and K-Family members left with their tummies filled and ready for a holiday season full of service.
