EM Fire Commissioner Celebrates Retirement

Cary Welt worked for more than 36 years in the Nassau County Fire Marshal's office.

Cary Welt of East Meadow recently celebrated his retirement from the Nassau County Fire Marshal's office at a party held in his honor at President Caterers of East Meadow.

Welt, who served the county for more than 36 years in this capacity, was honored with citations from Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and Presiding Office Norma Gonsalves.

Mangano thanked Welt for his "loyalty and dedication" to the community. Welt is also retiring with the same years of service as a first assistant deputy instructor at the Nassau Fire Service Academy.

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray and Councilman Gary Hudes were also on hand to present Welt with an official citation.

Welt currently serves as a fire commissioner with the East Meadow Fire District. He and his wife, Deborah, have four children, Sarah, Rachel, David and Adam.
