Clarke Senior Places Third in Hispanic Heritage Month Essay Contest

W.T. Clarke High School senior Lady Velasquez placed third in Optimum Power to Learn's sixth annual "Hispanic Heritage Month" essay contest.

Velasquez will read her award-winning essay on Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Molina Wednesday morning during a ceremony in the Principal’s Conference Room at Clarke and be recognized by Town of Hempstead supervisor Kate Murray.

The essay contest celebrates the spirit and accomplishments of Hispanic Americans and is open to all students in Grades 6-12 in Optimum-serviced areas.

Velasquez will also be awarded a Kindle Fire Notebook.

Clarke Principal Timothy Voels and teacher Georgia Rotella will also be in attendance.
