Bowling Green K-Kids Distribute Boating Safety Brochures to Honor Friend

The children took part in the project in remembrance of fellow K-Kid Harlie Treanor, who died in a boating accident on July 4.

The K-Kids handed out boating safety materials on a boat ramp in Wantagh to honor their classmate on Saturday according to an article in the East Meadow Herald. Treanor was killed on July 4 when the boat she was on capsized in Oyster Bay.

The K-Kids told the Herald that many boaters accepted their brochures and offered their condolences.

“We simply want to help reduce the chance that a boating accident will cause others to endure the sadness and loss that we feel over Harlie’s death,” said Rich Santer, the Bowling Green K-Kids advisor.
