Mid-Winter Blood Drive at NCC

Nassau Community College teaming with NUMC for 19th annual drive during National Blood Donor Month.

For more than 40 years, January has been recognized as National Blood Donor Month.

Fittingly, Nassau Community College, in conjunction with Nassau University Medical Center, will host its 19th annual mid-winter blood drive Wednesday, Jan. 29, between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room of the College Center Building on NCC's campus.

The drive will help supply a "substantial percentage of the blood needs of this major trauma center."

The drive also continues NCC's six-times-a-year effort to encourage all able individuals to donate. Dr. Arthur Friedman, co-chair of the NCC Blood Drive Task Force, said, “At Nassau Community College, we take our community service responsibilities seriously. We hope our efforts will help meet a substantial amount of the community's blood needs. We look forward to working in partnership with community residents in this much needed blood drive.”

Make an appointment to give blood by calling Barbara Vollmer at 572-7883 or Dr. Friedman at 572-7401 or just stop in on Jan. 29.

The process takes about an hour; light refreshments will be served to participants. Blood donors must be at least 17 years old and in good health. Donors should come with some personal identification.
