Kiwanis Delivers Hot Meals to Families in Need Just in Time For Christmas

Thanks to the East Meadow Kiwanis food drive, 119 local families in need are enjoying a hot meal this Christmas.

Volunteers assembled the food baskets on Friday at W.T. Clarke High School with help from Key and Builders Club students. On Saturday, Kiwanians delivered the food, along with an invitation to a Christmas Day party funded by and held at Borrelli's in East Meadow where guests are treated to a free meal and toys are given to the children.

Local priests, rabbis and social workers identify prospective recipients, which are all within the East Meadow School District.

The East Meadow Kiwanis Club, under the leadership of holiday food drive chair Jay Steinmetz and holiday food basket chair Alan Hodish, are assisted by six youth services organizations that the club sponsors -- the East Meadow High School, W.T. Clarke and Sacred Heart High School Key Clubs; the Woodland Middle School and W.T. Clarke Builders Clubs; and the Bowling Green Elementary School K-Kids Club.
