Miss New York USA Pageant Finalist From East Meadow Seeking Donations

Danielle Jean of East Meadow has been selected a state finalist for the 2014 Miss New York USA pageant.

All contestants are required to raise $1,500 in sponsorship fees; three installments of $500 are due on the 16th of every month now until January.

Jean created a fundraising page Nov. 29 to help raise the money. To date, $112 has been raised by seven people in 19 days.

The goal is $3,000.

"The reason why I want to be the next Miss New York is because I want to prove to myself and others that I am more than capable of doing anything I put my mind into as long as I put the work in!" Jean said. "I have the opportunity to represent my community and this beautiful state!"

The pageant will be held Jan. 17-19 at the The Performing Arts Center at Purchase College in Harrison, NY.
