Hempstead Town Pet Fair

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray and Town Clerk Mark Bonilla present the Hempstead Town Pet Fair on Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter, 3320 Beltagh Ave, Wantagh. KJOY's own Steve and Peri, along with Lucky the Duck, will also be at this event, where pet care information and pet food samples will be distributed.

This is an opportunity to adopt a free dog or cat, complete with free immunizations, spaying or neutering and microchipping. You only pay a nominal state license fee for dogs.

Other services available include rabies vaccine, provided by the Long Island Veterinary Medical Association. For a nominal fee of only $10, your pet can receive the rabies vaccine. Pets must be pre-registered (call 516-785-5220) and there is a three pet limit per household ($10 fee - cash only). You must bring your pet's current license or purchase a new one. A spay/neuter certificate is required for reduced state dog license fees. Dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in pet carriers.
