Losing a pet ...a sensitive subject

try to think of the great life you gave them and think about the wonderful times they gave to you

For those who have never had a companion pet you can never understand how losing one is as devastating as losing a human family member. Recently, a few of our customers have had their pet pass away. I want to extend my deepest condolences and heart felt sympathy to those of you who have had their pet pass. We truly know your pain!

The most common questions that I receive regarding this is; " Should I get another right away? " Should I get the same kind or a different one?"

The answer is not a simple one. Each person is different and handles grief differently. Personally I have to replace my lost loved one immediately. It helps to mend my broken heart and distracts me. As far as getting the same kind. Again that depends on the individual. I find that we compare initially, whether it is the same breed/species anyway. I lost my first bird (Charlie) in a tragic accident many years ago and i will never be able to replace him. Throughout the years I have had several birds and I love them all dearly. We had our Rottie for 13 years and she has been gone for 2 years, I have not gotten another dog yet.

I think the most important thing to consider when you have lost your pet is to try and think about the good life you gave to that animal. Not every animal is so fortunate as to have a loving and caring home.

The one thing that I want to stress is that...if you feed and care for your pet appropriately you will be help to extend the life and the quality of its life.

Again..I want to extend my condolences to those of you that have lost a companion pet. Its isn't easy, but it does get a little easier in time.

Sincerely
