Birds Gotta Fly

Since we have opened the shop, we get to see many more birds that need grooming. OMG..the wing clippings that I have been are as if someone used a hand saw on them.  Now granted... some of them are from the owners attempting to do the wing clipping and they really admit they dont know what they are doing but the sad part is...Most are not! They are done from pet shops that are supposed to know what they are doing!!!

The wing clipping has to be done safely and in such a way that the bird will glide to the floor NOT plop to the floor like a rock! The bird should be able to fly to some degree however it should not be able to get hieght/altitude.

The clipping should be done as evenly & smoothly as possible to prevent the wings from irritating the body/sides of the bird.

I am a little fanatic about how it looks after the clipping too..I like the wings to  match....but that is just for appearance sake.

Please be sure when you have your parrot/bird groomed that the person performing the service knows what they are doing. Dont just assume they do..ask questions.
