Weekend Planner: Meteorites, Fine Arts Festival and Gardening

Patch's "Weekend Planner" Column lets East Meadow know what's going on for the weekend ahead.

It’s Friday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit:

1.
Where/ When: ; Friday, May 20 at 7 p.m.
Why Go: Looking to get your garden in top shape for the summer? Jen Cipriano will be giving participants cultivating tips and some basic plant education at this event. Also, she will be guiding gardeners on the best plants for specific gardens
Pricing: Free.
 
2.
Where/When: ; Friday, May 20 starting at 10 p.m.
Why Go: Come check out McZ’s signature beer pong and sapo tournaments each Friday. Unwind after a long week and bring some friends down to this neighborhood watering hole.
Pricing: $20 per team for beer pong and $5 per person for sap.
 
3.
Where/When: ; Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Why Go: For those fine art enthusiasts in the area, this festival will feature vendors selling unique and original artwork from well known artists. There will be over 10,000 pieces for sale, so there will be something to suit everyone’s taste. The Long Island Children’s Museum will also be on hand to host some activities for families.
Pricing: Free.
 
4.
Where/When: Garvies Point Museum and Preserve (50 Barry Drive, Glen Cove); Saturday, May 21 at 1:30 p.m.
Why Go: Meteorite expert Joseph Austen will be discussing the origins and composition of the space rocks with participants. Additionally, he will be bringing along some cool “out of this world” samples for people to see.
Pricing: $3 for adults, $2 for children.
 
5.
Where/When: ; Sunday, May 22 at 2 p.m.
Why Go: Take a trip down to South America and back all in one afternoon with this performance, which features Paraguayan dance group Berta Gauto & Panambi Verá. Their traditional dances have been showcased at the United Nations – a real treat for East Meadow!
