Weekend Planner: 9/11 Remembrance, Medieval Festival and Dave Mason

Patch's "Weekend Planner" column lets East Meadow know what's going on for the weekend ahead.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit:


Where/When: NYCB Theatre at Westbury; Friday, Sept. 9 at 8 p.m.
Why Go: The famous singer and songwriter Dave Mason will be performing at the NYCB Theatre right in your own backyard. The theatre offers acclaimed acts right over in Westbury - a definite win for all.
Pricing: $52 to $141
 

Where/When: Sands Point Preserve (127 Middle Neck Road, Port Washington); Saturday, Sept. 10 and Sunday, Sept. 11 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go: Knights jousting, a royal court and a maypole dance – what is there not to like about the medieval festival? This annual festival will have themed vendors, food entertainment and much more for the entire family.
Pricing: $12 for adults, $6 for children between 4 and 12 years of age, those under 4 are free.
 

Where/When: ; Saturday, Sept. 10 at 12 p.m.
Why Go: The church will be hold an open house throughout the day for prospective members. At 12 p.m., join them for a 9/11 memorial service. Additionally, there will be games for children, as well as food for everyone.
Pricing: Free.
 

Where/When: ; Saturday, Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
Why Go: Join other locals for the feature flick “Bogart and Bergman in Casablanca” at this free movie night. A great way to get out and not break your budget. There will be free refreshments. Feel free to bring a cushion or chair to sit on!
Pricing: Free.
 

Where/When: Point Lookout Town Park; Sunday, Sept. 11 at 7:30 a.m.
Why Go: Remember those who lost their lives on that fateful day 10 years ago with a beachside memorial service. Supervisor Kate Murray and other town officials will be there to honor victims, their families and loved ones with this unique service.
Pricing: Free.
