Thunderstorm Causes Power Outages in East Meadow

Over 200 customers were affected for two hours on Tuesday night.

Parts of East Meadow, Westbury and Uniondale were without power for two hours Tuesday night due to a failure on a LIPA utility pole on Endo Avenue in Westbury, LIPA officials said.

"At approximately 8:36 p.m. last night 274 customers were affected for 119 minutes," said Mark Gross, director of communications for LIPA,.

The utility pole was fixed, and power has since been restored. According to LIPA's storm center outage map, as of 10:33 a.m., less than five East Meadow residents, located in between Newbridge Road and East Meadow Avenue, are still affected, although restoration is expected by noon.
