Storm Causes Power Outages in East Meadow

Over 100 East Meadow homes have been affected by power outages due to the thunderstorms that have pummeled the area since Saturday night.

The majority of the outages are in the vicinity of , according to the LIPA Storm Center Outage Map. LIPA is currently "assessing the condition" of these outages.

There are also some outages in the vicinity of Front Street and East Meadow Avenue, and, according to the map, these are in the "assessing condition phase" as well.

According to the outage map, LIPA officials expect much of the power to be restored by noon.

"Extra crews has been called in today as a result of the storm," LIPA Spokesman Scott Garver said. "With this weather, crews have to be concerned with their safety as well as getting the power restored."
