Photo of the Day: Woman Thanks Hospital Staff for Saving Her Life

Joanne Giacalone was in cardiac arrest when she was transported to NUMC.

Joanne Giacalone, of Levittown, recently returned to Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC) in East Meadow to thank hospital staff members for saving her life.

Giacalone had been transported to NUMC's Emergency Department in cardiac arrest, but the NUMC staff was able to help.

"Her visit was a positive reminder that saving one can impact many, as Joanne will begin her nursing career in March," Shelley Lotenberg, the director of public affairs for NUMC, said in a statement.
