Patch Picks: Local Specialty Shops

Each week, Patch Picks will highlight editor and reader picks of great local businesses, destinations, services, organizations, ways to spend a day off and more.

This week, East Meadow Patch searched for local boutiques and specialty stores that provide a wide array of items for residents. We found shops that carried customized picture frames and jewelry, as well as places that had enormous selections of party dresses and accessories, sporting supplies and shoes. 1. : Based out of a private residence in East Meadow, Linda’s Lovelies offers beautiful and delicate party gifts for all your bridal needs. They have a big selection of invitation templates to choose from and custom calligraphy. Favors include wine stoppers, candles, place cards, ice cream scoops and more. Linda’s is more than just gifts--they also have flower girl dresses and bridal accessories.

2. : Conveniently located in the Pathmark shopping center in East Meadow, the Athlete’s Shop has supplied the area with high quality athletic brands, including Nike and Timberland, since 1949. Shoes are their staple product, but they also sell baseball hats and t-shirts. They have men’s, women’s and children’s sneakers and boots for everyone at this location.

3. : This small storefront off of Hempstead Turnpike is unassumingly part of the nationwide chain of lacrosse product stores. Lacrosse Unlimited has literally everything an avid player could ever want. They sell men’s, women’s and youth equipment, clothing and footwear, as well as instructional material for coaches. Main brands include Nike, Brine, Warrior, Cascade and STX.

4. : With a recent move from their North Bellmore location, Rena Marie Jewelry already has a steadfast East Meadow following. They have a massive amount of necklaces, bracelets, engagement rings and earrings. Offering services such as jewelry cleaning, sizing, appraisal and repairs, this shop is definitely a local standout. Sales people are well versed in the jewelry available and are able to advise customers on the wide array of diamonds, settings and other items available.

5. : A professional framing shop, this location offers customized matting. Picture It staff will help customers carefully select the frame that is perfect for their specific picture needs. They also do special order mirrors of all shapes and sizes. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about style, colors and photo handling techniques.
