Grab & Go Kids Planner: Harlem Wizards, Ice Cream and Purim Festivals

This week we have the Harlem Wizards, ice cream and movie benefits, nature walks and a jungle themed Purim festival. Check it all out below:

1. Family Movie Day in Support of Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 
Where/When: Merrick Cinemas (15 Fisher Avenue, Merrick); Friday, Mar. 18 at 5 p.m.
Why Go: Support a great cause and take the kids to see the new movie Rango. Admission includes movie ticket, popcorn, soda and a chance to win a door prize. RSVP is required by the theatre.
Pricing: $10 per person.
 
2. Harlem Wizards
Where/When: Clarke High School (740 Edgewood Drive, Westbury); Friday, Mar. 18 at 6 p.m.
Why Go: As part of a fundraiser for the Athletic Parent and Booster Club, Clarke High School will be hosting a performance by the famous Harlem Wizards. The kids will definitely enjoy all of the tricks and stunts the players do during their basketball game.
Pricing: At the door- $10 for students, $12 for adults.
 
3. Garvies Point Museum Water Day Program
Where/When: Garvies Point Museum (1 Barry Drive, Glen Cove); Saturday, Mar. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go: In honor of World Water Day, the Garvies Point Museum will be hosting a full day program meant to educate children with hiking, movies and a nature walk. Get the kids out of the house and teach them about the natural world.
Pricing: $3 for adults, $2 for children.
 
4. Have A Scoop to Support Autism
Where/When: Maraschino Ice Cream, Ices, Cakes and Shakes; Saturday, Mar. 19 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Why Go: Bring the kids down to this local ice cream shop to satisfy their sweet tooth while supporting a great cause. Girl Scouts will be on hand to do some face painting and a percentage of the proceeds will go to help Quality Services to the Autism Community.
Pricing: Free with purchase of ice cream.
 
5. Purim at the African Jungle
Where/When: Merrick Road Park Clubhouse (2550 Clubhouse Road, Merrick); Sunday, Mar. 20 at 12 p.m.
Why Go: Hosted by Chabad of Bellmore-Merrick-Wantagh, this Purim celebration is open to everyone, regardless of background or affiliation. There will be a Masquerade featuring jungle attire, drumming circles, safari rides for kids and much more.
Pricing: $15 for adults, $10 for children. RSVP preferred in advance by calling (516) 833-3057 or visiting this site.
