Grab & Go Kids Planner: Dream Catcher Craft, Healthy Living and Family Sundays

Every week, Patch will be bringing readers the best weekend activities for children in your area.

We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children. Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

This week we have movies in the park, a dream catcher craft, a feline meet and greet, healthy living workshop and family fun Sundays at the museum. Check it all out below:

Movie in the Park: Iron Man 2
Where/When: Eisenhower Park in East Meadow; Thursday, Aug. 25 at 7 p.m.
Why Go: For older kids, Iron Man 2 will be playing at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theater. Bring a blanket and let the kids enjoy one of the last weekends outside before they head back to school.
Pricing: Free.

Dream Catcher Craft
Where/When: Island Trees Public Library; Friday, Aug. 26 at 5 p.m.
Why Go: Bring your child down to the Island Trees Library to make a beautiful dream catcher using feathers, beads and strings. This craft will sure to amaze all participants. The dream catcher craft is for children between the ages of 5 and 11.
Pricing: $3 materials fee, sign up at the circulation desk.

Healthy Living Series: Fats & Oils
Where/When: Long Island Children’s Museum; Saturday, Aug. 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Why Go: The LICM will be hosting local Girl Scout Krystin Sinclair as she teachers children and parents about the USDA food guidelines. On Aug. 27, she will be discussing fats and oils. This is a great way for the whole family to stay educated on a healthy diet.
Pricing: Program is free with museum admission.

Adoptable Cats Meet & Greet
Where/When: Petco in Levittown; Saturday, Aug. 27 and Sunday, Aug. 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Why Go: Bring the kids to meet these adorable feline friends at Petco. All of the cats available for the meet and greet are up for adoption. Just be careful – the little ones might convince you to bring home a new furry family member!
Pricing: Free.

Family Sunday at the Museum
Where/When: Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn; Sunday, Aug. 28 at 1 p.m.
Why Go: Take an exciting walk around the museum’s current exhibition in a family friendly manner with a docent at this fun filled event. There is also an art activity afterwards for the whole family to enjoy.
Pricing: Free with museum admission.
