On Founder’s Birthday, Girl Scouts Party Like A Rock Star!

Juliette Gordon Low's Birthday Celebration: Party Like A Rock Star

Juliette Gordon Low, founder of Girl Scouts of the USA, was born Juliette Magill Kinzie Gordon on October 31, 1860, in Savannah, Georgia.

She started Girl Scouting on March 12, 1912. Today, there are 22,000 girls and 7,000 adult volunteers who make up Girl Scouts of Nassau County. There are over 200,000 Girl Scouts in New York State, and across the country there are over 4 million girls and adults who are members of Girl Scouts.

In our East Meadow community, we have about 800 girl and adult members in the East Meadow Association of Girl Scouts.

On Nov. 4, Girl Scouts of East Meadow celebrated Juliette Gordon Low’s birthday, Rock Star style! Our DJ, Joe Targove, was absolutely fantastic. Girls dressed up with all the glitz and glamour. Everyone danced the night away.

Special awards and prizes were given to Best Imitation of A Rock Star, Best Original Rock Star, and Best Rock Star Dancer. The girls also brought non-perishable food items which generated 125 lbs. of food donated to St. Raphael’s Church in East Meadow. Thanks to East Meadow Girl Scout Troop 1512 for organizing the event.
