Renters Show Interest in Former 25 Food Mart

August James Realty Group described the property, which has been vacant for about a year, as a "hot commodity."

Sitting vacant on Hempstead Turnpike, outside of the entrance to Eisenhower Park and directly across from yet another empty business in the form of the former Pearl Paint, is the former 25 Food Mart.

According to an agent from August James Realty Group, the firm tasked with finding a new tenant, the property is currently a hot commodity, with multiple parties currently in negotiation for taking on the lease.

The building totals 5,146 interior square feet and features its own parking lot.

In the past, the property has been home for various different businesses, including a dollar store and a seasonal Halloween shop.

Nancy Brookstein, who was walking down Hempstead Turnpike on her way to a jog in Eisenhower Park, said that a convenience store would be a nice addition to the area.

"Something higher-end than some random, no-name establishment," she said. "A good place where you can pick up a nice, fresh sandwich and some drinks on the way to the park."
