Sweet Karma Closes in East Meadow

The business, which been on East Meadow Avenue for more than 10 years, relocates to Plainview.

Sweet Karma, which has been on East Meadow Avenue for 10 years, closed its doors in East Meadow and has relocated to 136 Manetto Hill Road in Plainview.

Jen, an employee at Sweet Karma, said that the business moved to a more convenient space.

"We had a good opportunity in Plainview," she said. "We are now in a shopping center with more parking and we are by more traffic."

Jen also said that the location in East Meadow did not provide adequate space.

"We outgrew the location, especially selling gluten free items," she said. "In the new store we have a whole space dedicated to gluten free items and they are separate from everything else."

The former Sweet Karma building is located across the street from Meadow Commons and is surrounded by a variety of businesses on East Meadow Avenue.

John, owner of Angelo's Pizzeria which is located next door to vacant property, said he would like to see something open in the building that would bring more traffic to the avenue.

"I can't think of what this street needs, but it has to be something that brings more people over here," he said. "Maybe a laundromat."

Jen said that Sweet Karma customers from East Meadow and surrounding areas don't need to worry.

"We have kept in contact with all of our customers and we will do deliveries for a little while," she said. "They have all been so loyal to us and we are going to stay loyal to them."
