Those who love Japanese food rejoice, because Sarku Japan is coming to East Meadow.
Sarku Japan will open shop at 2565 Hempstead Turnpike, which is also the building that formerly was the home of , which in August of 2011.
"It's a sign of the times," Owner Brian Hurdus told Patch regarding the closure. "We lost a little bit of business and it was always huge overhead to begin with. In the last three years, we did outlast over 20 different bars and restaurants in the area, but my overhead is still a lot to keep up with."
As for Sarku Japan, the following is a description of what locals can expect when they open their doors in East Meadow.
From Sarku Japan's website:
Founded in 1987, Sarku Japan introduced fresh “made-to-order” Japanese cuisine prepared with high quality ingredients to provide a healthy, nutritious alternative to traditional fast food meals. We were the first to establish the concept of Teppanyaki-style, freshly cooked Japanese cuisine in food courts of major regional shopping centers. Today, we are still the only QSR operator to offer this distinguishing Teppanyaki feature as a national standard.
Company officials did not return Patch's calls for comment, and the eatery's opening date is not available at this point. For the latest updates, check back with Patch.
