Sacramone’s Marks Official Grand Opening

Town of Hempstead Councilman Gary Hudes joins the owners for official ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday.

Brothers Domenico and Anthony Sacramone celebrated another exciting occasion in their restaurant careers on Tuesday evening – the official grand opening and ribbon cutting of their new East Meadow restaurant, .

After having a , the Sacramones were joined by their mother, Maddalena, 87, and Town of Hempstead Councilman Gary Hudes, as well as friends and family, to mark the special occasion. Hudes also presented the Sacramones with a Town of Hempstead Citation.

“Anytime we have a new business that opens in the Town of Hempstead, and specifically in my district in East Meadow or Levittown, we are very excited to see new businesses come into the area,” Hudes said.

The duo has already proved their success with the legendary Sac’s Place, located in Astoria, which has been a local staple for 20 years. The East Meadow-based Sacramone's features coal-oven fired pizza, cooked in the restaurant’s custom built coal-oven, and classic Italian dishes made fresh to order. Additionally, the pastas and gnocchi are homemade.

Hudes said that the Sacramone's extensive business and restaurant experience is a welcome asset in East Meadow. “We wish them lots of luck here in East Meadow and we hope that they fill this restaurant and they do well,” he added.

Domenico Sacramone said that the event was for “close friends, people involved in helping us build the place, [and] people in the business.” It was an exciting night because it was an occasion to get together with all of his friends and people that helped him through the process of opening, he added.

“Today is exciting because we waited so long to do the grand opening and we are finally doing it,” Anthony said.

Domenico said that the community response to the restaurant has been “great” so far.

“Little by little, more and more people are tasting our food and seeing what me and Anthony are all about. They are really loving the place. They love the way we decorated it, they like the music we play and they love the food,” he said, noting that there have been “a couple of bumps in the road,” but they are working those bumps out.

“So far, the beginning was slow, but that is what we wanted – a slow beginning,” Anthony added. “Now we are getting busier and busier and I’ve got to find a lot of help.”

“Just come, have a drink with us and have a good time,” Domenico added.

Hudes said that in a tough economy people tend to hold back. “To have someone who says ‘I’m going to invest now’ is another sign that things are getting better and people are taking a chance in a business investment in the community,” he said.
