Rich and Famous Barbershop Celebrates One Year Anniversary

Councilman Gary Hudes celebrated the one year anniversary with the owners of the barber shop.

Every community needs an old-fashioned barbershop. After a long hiatus, the strip mall on Bellmore Avenue in East Meadow finally has one again.

In honor of its successful first year, the was awarded a certificate of recognition from Hempstead Town Councilman Gary Hudes.

"In the 1950's and 60's, there was a barber shop here, so four decades down the line, I decided to start a new one," Owner Rashel "Rich" Pinkasov said. "People are glad to see its return. It completes the shopping center…a jewelry store, bagel shop, store repair, children's clothing store, bank and now a old-style barber shop. I'm 22 years old.  This is my first ownership and times are hard. I feel we're making close personal ties to the community at large, where the reappearance of an old-fashioned barber shop is welcomed."

Commenting on Councilman Hudes' personal acknowledgment of the shop's one-year milestone, Pinkasov said, "It was a honor to meet the councilman. He's an ordinary man who wants to make everyone happy. His presentation was a nice boost. I'm from Queens, but I love East Meadow. Because it's family-oriented, it made me want to stay."

Councilman Gary Hudes was very impressed with the work that has been done at the establishment.

"It was truly my pleasure to acknowledge the first-year anniversary of the Rich & Famous Barber Shop," Hudes said. "Rich has certainly zeroed in on many of the keys to small business success. His sincere commitment to providing top notch good old-fashioned customer service, along with his commitment to the local community in which he operates, by giving back to the schools, PTAs, etc., will certainly insure his success for many, many years to come."
