New Dry Cleaning Store Set to Open in Former Blockbuster Building

East Meadow native Fiscal Chowdhury said that he remembered when he would rent movies at Blockbuster, which was formally located at 1959 Front St.

"I went there all the time prior to Redbox," he laughed. "I was sad to see it close."

Chowdhury is now set to open his new business, Green Island Cleaners, in the building that once housed the rental store.

"We will be open before the end of the month," he said. "We are very excited."

Chowdhury described his business as "eco-friendly."

He said that he is hoping that Green Island Cleaners will benefit the East Meadow community.

"It is not good when a big space like this stays vacant," he said. "New business leads to more jobs being given and we are in the process of hiring."
