New Businesses Confirmed for Meadow Commons

A veterinary clinic and a nail salon will occupy two of the seven spots at the facility.

Meadow Commons Owner Saeed Ahmed confirmed to Patch that two leases have been signed by businesses that will fill voids at the newly built site on East Meadow Avenue.

Situated on the property that once housed the Crystalbrook catering facility, the new shopping center includes seven commercial spaces that will be leased. Six of the units will be around 1,000 square feet each, with the seventh having slightly more room.

North Shore Animal Hospital will rent one of the spaces, and Dr. Michael Ferber, a Merrick resident who will be the primary care physician at the new East Meadow location, said that the majority of the work will be done at the new clinic.

"We’re going to have a small facility, but we’re going to have access to the larger locations’ resources," Ferber said, specifying that he will have the Bellmore and Bayside materials at his disposal as well.

Ferber, a third-generation veterinarian, said that he expects construction to take a couple of months, and he hopes to be open for business by "late this summer." Normal preventative medicine, exams, vaccines, outpatient surgeries, outpatient dental and more will be available at this location.

Ahmed also told Patch that a nail salon, of which the name was not released, will be joining North Shore Animal Hospital in the shopping center. No further details were released on the business. As far as other vendors, Ahmed said he is speaking to a lot of potential clients, and he gets multiple calls every day.

"I rented only two spaces right now," Ahmed said. "I am talking to a bunch of people."

As far as when the entire shopping center will be filled, Ahmed said it's difficult to set some sort of target date for completion.

"I don’t have a crystal ball," he said. "It depends what kind of calls I get and how quickly they sign the lease."
