Lia's Pizzeria to Open in Former PieSanos Space

The owner of the new eatery said it will be open in about a month.

PieSanos, located at 2330 Hempstead Turnpike in the Meadowbrook Shopping Center, has closed its doors, but another restaurant is set to move in.

Lia's Pizzeria will open in the former PieSanos building in about a month, according to the owner of the franchise.

The owner, who did not want his name published, said that he owns three other locations of the eatery in Franklin Square, Syosset and Oceanside.

Joe Ronzo, store manager at Uncle Giuseppe's Italian Market, said that PieSanos seemed to be doing well before it closed.

"I don't know what happened, but I think they might have gotten a good price for the business," he said. "They were always packed."

Nearby business owners and managers said that the eatery will be a positive addition to the shopping center.

Debbie Entenmann, owner of Entenmann's Family Bakery, said that she is glad that the property won't sit empty.

"Staying vacant is never good," she said. "I think it's a positive addition. A pizzeria is always good because everyone loves pizza."

Ronzo agreed.

"Change is always going to happen and PieSanos did a good job," he said. "We are looking for Lia's to come and do an even better job. If they serve a quality product, they will do good."

Rocco, an employee at the nearby American Locksmith, said that if it was up to him, something different would open in the property.

"It was a pizzeria before PieSanos and now it will be one after," he said. "They need a Chinese takeout place around here."
