Generator Installed for NUMC's New Emergency Department

The new emergency department will be ready to go in May.

On Wednesday, Plaza Construction, along with Gilbane and NUMC’s staff, successfully coordinated the last of the two major portions to be completed for the new and soon to be opened emergency department project at the Nassau University Medical Center.

The new emergency back-up generator was installed on Wednesday, and the new canopy/bridge work at the south main entrance off of Hempstead Turnpike is being constructed now and due for completion in the coming weeks. This will allow officials to open the new emergency room this May.

The new, state of the art back up generator, 1000 KW, 90 tons (90,000 lbs), 45 feet long, 13 feet wide and 13 feet high, will further allow the emergency department to operate during black outs/power issues and during any emergency or catastrophe that could possibly hit Long Island.
