NUMC Parking Issues Discussed at CEMCO Meeting [POLL]

Many residents are still upset with the parking conditions surrounding Nassau University Medical Center.

The Council of East Meadow Community Organizations (CEMCO) recently addressed updates at and changes to the membership contract that will now welcome local individuals instead of just organizations.

Third Vice President Richard Cardozo shared an update from a recent meeting he attended at the hospital.

"They said the parking problem is practically over," Cardozo said. "I did hear at the last community meeting that a lot of the employees don't want to use the double-decker parking unit because of car accidents and thefts in cars. There's been 15 total in the compound."

Joseph Parisi, the president of CEMCO, felt that the parking structure is unattractive and not very appealing for residents to look at, especially if it isn't being utilized.

"Those parking racks really look very ugly," Parisi said. "If they're not being used, why can't they be removed? Maybe it's just the times that I go by, but they're always empty, and to me they are just a tremendous eye sore."

Cardozo said he would be happy to bring it up at the next meeting, but they aren't exactly empty.

"They're being used, maybe not at full capacity, but they are being used," he responded.
