Business Q&A: Funtazia

This local tattoo and piercing shop sells novelty items, glassware and so much more. With a vast product selection paired with friendly and helpful employees, it's no wonder why so many people flock to this locale.

Sam Naderi has owned for 12 years and explains that “we plan on being here for many more [years]." Naderi took time out to talk to Patch about Funtazia, East Meadow and why he loves running his business:

How did Funtazia get started?

Basically, it is a family business. One day I just was sitting down and had just come back from Europe. I said, you know it would be cool to open a neighborhood shop that caters to everything foreign. So that is pretty much how it began.

How did you get into this type of business?

Just did research. It was me and my family. I’ve always been involved in businesses prior to this.

What makes East Meadow a good place to own a business?

In general, everyone from the neighborhood knows each other. We run a tight ship here.

What special items and services do you offer?

We do tattoos, piercings, we sell novelty items, adult toys, tobacco accessories. We have some of the best glassware.

What is your most popular item that you sell?

We sell a lot of the body jewelry and, as far as glass is concerned, the hurricane water pipes.

Why do your customers keep coming back?

Because we give them the best service with a smile and we actually mean it.

What is your favorite part of owning Funtazia?

I love what I do. I do what I love and I make a living doing it. I enjoy coming to work everyday.

Do you have any advice for someone who is looking to buy a hookah?

Well they should come here first and tell me they are looking for. I can guide them towards the right hookah for that person.
