#74- Creative Cuisine at The Carltun

Visit the Carltun for some specialty dinners.

If you're tired of the same old song and dance when you go out to dinner, visit in Eisenhower Park for some upscale cuisine options.

On Friday nights, get together with some family members and friends for the Friday Night Island Music Lobster Clam Bake and Barbecue Steak Platter. Chances are, you're already intrigued by the delicious name of the event, but just listen to what's offered for even more mouth watering details.

Start off with one of three appetizer options: dungeness crab cakes with horseradish aioli, oyster zinfandel cocktail with blue points oysters in zinfandel, orange and tomato salsa or the artichoke and avocado with citrus vinaigrette. Next you'll move on to the Long Island Green Salad prepared with tomato, lettuce, red onion and balsamic vinaigrette.

Two delectable entrees adorn the menu during this weekly event. The clam bake includes Long Island lobster, shrimp, mussels, little neck clams and steamers, while the barbecue plate brings together the flavors of grilled chicken, barbecue ribs, sweet sausage and marinated skirt steak. Both of these entrees are served with red bliss potatoes and grilled corn.

Top off the meal with the chef's special tropical dessert and coffee or tea. This menu is available for $55 plus tax and gratuity per person.

If you're really looking to have a meal that combines lots of seafood and other meaty flavors into one platter, wait until Saturday night for another of the Carltun's special menus, which is also priced at $55 per person plus tax and gratuity.

You'll start off with complimentary surf and turf tapas followed by a steakhouse salad. Next, select from one of the six hearty surf and turf entree items. Sink your teeth into a 22-ounce rib eye steak with sauteed onions and a six-ounce South African lobster tail served with a baked potato or opt for the 16 ounce veal chop with four jumbo grilled scallops in a Madeira sauce served with fried risotto.

Other dinner options on this menu include the pork chop and grilled shrimp, Meyer shell steak and South African lobster tail, filet mignon with South African lobster tail and shrimp and the herb crusted Colorado lamb and grilled shrimp.

As with the Lobster Clam Bake and Barbecue Steak Platter night, this meal is also ended with a sweet dessert treat.
