'Laughs at the Library' Host Nominated for Best LI Comedian

Mark Brier says he doesn't just perform for people but with people.

Mark Brier, longtime host of "Laughs at the Library" at the East Meadow Public Library, has been nominated for best comedian in this year's Best of LI poll.

Brier has been a professional comedian for 35 years.

"Laughs at the Library" has been a monthly program at the East Meadow Public Library since September 2004. Each month Brier invites special guest comedians to East Meadow to take part in the 90-minute show and lets audience members participate. The program returns to the library Oct. 28.

"I do not just perform for people but with people. Every show is different. Nothing is planned out in advance," Brier said.

Brier will also emcee the Friends of the East Meadow Public Library comedy extravaganza Oct. 20. Their most popular show of the year, Friends of the EMPL will host the afternoon of comedy standup featuring fellow comedians like Rich Walker. Tickets are required. The show starts at 2 p.m.

Vote for the Best of LI through Dec. 15.
