East Meadow Teen Stars in Hofstra Opera Theater

East Meadow's own Kristina Shafranski is starring in Hofstra University's double feature, Henry Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas" and Christoph Gluck's "The Reformed Drunk," Jan. 31 through Feb. 2 at the John Cranford Adams Playhouse.

Shafranski, 18, is a vocal performance major at Hofstra.

"Dido and Aeneas" recounts the love of Dido, Queen of Carthage, for the Trojan hero, Aeneas, and her despair when he abandons her.

In "The Reformed Drunk," two local barflies, Mathurin and Lucas, are scheming to marry Lucas to Colette, Maturin's niece. However, Colette has ideas of her own about whom to marry.

Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15 general admission and $12 for senior citizens (over 65) or matriculated non-Hofstra students with ID. Members of the Hofstra community receive two free tickets upon presentation of a current HofstraCard.
