History Alive Children's Program
Children are invited to come to Old Bethpage Restoration Village on select Sundays through April and May to learn about the past and 19th century life in "History Alive!"
This program will make kids put down the cell phones and video games and see how earlier Americans lived the simple life. Everyone will have a chance to participate in everyday 19th century life, including making fresh butter, carding wool, assembling a hat and more. Children will also be able to roll wooden hoops and check out the old school house.
“This is one of our most popular programs for families, as it allows children and parents to gain a greater appreciation for what the daily lives of an earlier generation of Long Islanders were like,” said Old Bethpage Restoration Village site director and curator Jim McKenna in a recent press release from Nassau County.
