East Meadow Native Returns to TBS Sitcom, Web Series

Adam Busch's passion for comedy and music was apparent at an early age, according to his father.

East Meadow native Adam Busch is a busy guy.

He's returning to the TBS sitcom Men at Work for a third season, he's starring in the Web comedy, MyMusic, and singing with the folk band Common Rotation.

Busch did most things kids growing up in East Meadow did at the time, like play Little League, learn an instrument and perform in school plays.

"He also did some things that most kids don't do," Adam's father, Robert, said. "Adam's passion for comedy and music was apparent at an early age. While others watched cartoons, he watched HBO comedy specials and listened to tapes of the old radio comics."

His love of music started at Barnum Woods Elementary School, where he studied alto saxophone. "In the sixth grade, he was the first chair and soloist in the All Long Island elementary school jazz band and played in the East Meadow High School jazz band while still in middle school," Robert said, adding that his son still plays alto, along with harmonica and other instruments during concerts with Common Rotation.

While in middle school at Woodland, Adam began his acting studies at the Saturday teen program at The Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in NYC. He continued his studies at the Gene Frankel Theater Institute after the age of 18 and was already starring in his first TV series, Nickelodeon's The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo.

"When Adam went to Woodland Middle School, they were not doing shows, so the first time he actually performed a show on stage was at East Meadow High School," Robert said. "In his freshman year, he performed the title role in Pippin."

Shortly after that Adam got his first part in Luc Besson's The Professional (Leon), which introduced fellow Long Island native Natalie Portman.

"He was in every East Meadow High School show after that, including his senior year, in which he spent a great deal of time in Orlando filming the first season of Shelby Woo. He got home two weeks before the East Meadow High School show and learned the role of The Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz and did two of the four performances," Robert said.

Adam's two brothers, Matt and Justin, also enjoy careers in the entertainment industry; Matt is the personal manager of Bob Weir, former lead singer of The Grateful Dead and currently Furthur while Justin is a talent agent with many clients on Broadway, film and TV.

New episodes of Men at Work will begin airing in early 2014, according to the television series' Facebook page. On the sitcom, Busch plays ad salesman Neal, who, along with his three buddies (played by Danny MastersonJames Lesure and Michael Cassidy) works on the staff of a magazine in New York City.

The series is created by Breckin Meyer (Road Trip, Franklin & Bash). Ten episodes are slated for the third season. The second season averaged 1.9 million viewers, according to TBS.

MyMusic, created by filmmakers and brothers Benny and Rafi Fine, just launched its second season on the Fines' YouTube channel. Busch plays Indie, the CEO of the music-production company by the same name. Season 2's first episode already has more than 603,000 views.
