4. Clarke Student Named Finalist in Coca Cola Scholars Program: Daniel Wang, a senior at W.T. Clarke High School was selected as one of 250 finalists in the 2012-2013 Coca Cola Scholars Program, a national scholarship program that draws over 100,000 applicants.
3. NUMC to Start New Program For Low-Income Families: Nassau University Medical Center will start a new program called Health Leads, which will allow doctors to "prescribe" basic resources such as food, heat, child care and transportation to low-income families.

1. Former East Meadow Resident Turns 100: Frank LoVerde, a resident at Middle Island's Oak Hollow Nursing Center and an East Meadow resident of 60 years, turned 100-years-old on March 3.
