Meadow Crossing Construction Almost Complete: Finishing touches were being made Friday to Meadow Crossing, a new shopping center slated to open at the intersection of Newbridge Road and Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow.

Fundraiser Sunday for Dennis Carley: East Meadow Patch announced a fundraiser (being held at RC Dugans tomorrow, Sunday, 5-8 p.m.) for Dennis Carley, who was critically injured in a motorcycle accident in Delaware July 17.

Mark Bonilla Guilty of Official Misconduct: The trial of Mark Bonilla came to a close Thursday, with the Hempstead Town Clerk being found guilty on one count of official misconduct. The charge stems from allegations he threatened to transfer an employee unless he gave Bonilla personal photographs of a female employee who had accused Bonilla of sexual harassment.

NUMC Bomb Scare False Alarm: A homeless man from Westbury was arrested Wednesday after allegedly calling Nassau University Medical Center claiming there was a bomb inside the hospital, according to Nassau County Third Squad detectives.

Millie Jones to Receive 'Woman of Distinction' Award: Assemblyman Tom McKevitt named East Meadow resident Millie Jones a "Woman of Distinction." The assemblyman hosts an awards ceremony annually to honor women in his 17th assembly district who go "above and beyond the call of duty." Jones will receive the award during a ceremony Aug. 10.

EM Man, His Alleged Dealer Busted on Drug Charges: Nassau police arrested an East Meadow man and his alleged drug dealer in front of a N. Jerusalem Rd. restaurant Sunday and Monday evenings.

Kiwanis Funds Interactive Learning Tool for EM Schools: East Meadow Kiwanis president Debbie Kirsh recently presented a $7,500 check to superintendent of schools Lou DeAngelo and Board of Education president Joe Parisi to help the East Meadow School District purchase a Smart Table.
