Lost Dog: Patch learned Friday that Radar, a dog missing for days in East Meadow, did not make it. "Radar" was found by a good samaritan on the Meadowbrook Pkwy.

Edward Kraus to Run For County Legislator in 13th District: North Bellmore native Edward Kraus is running for Nassau County legislator in the 13th district, which covers the areas of North Bellmore, North Merrick, East Meadow and North Wantagh. He is running on the Democratic ticket. Presiding officer Norma Gonsalves, R-East Meadow, currently represents the district.

Millie Jones Recognized For Her 'Generous Spirit': During an afternoon ceremony at Farmingdale Public Library Saturday, East Meadow's Millie Jones was among 10 women to receive Assemblyman Tom McKevitt's "Woman of Distinction" award.

Barclays Owner Ratner Tapped for Nassau Coliseum Revamp: After bringing the Barclays Center to Brooklyn, developer Bruce Ratner will now have a hand in reinventing the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale. In what Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano said came down to the largest “economic benefit” to the county, Nassau Events Center (NEC), an affiliate of Ratner’s Forest City Enterprises, was chosen over the Madison Square Garden Company Thursday afternoon to redevelop the HUB.

Ratner Reveals New Details on Revamped Coliseum Property: Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano joined Bruce Ratner, the executive chairman of Forest City Ratner Companies, Friday to announce details regarding the new epicenter that will sit on the Nassau Coliseum property.

Neighbor's Death Inspires East Meadow Eagle Scout: East Meadow Eagle Scout Christopher Joseph Sommella, a member of Troop 157, was recently recognized at a court of honor held recently at Calvary Lutheran Church. To attain the rank of Eagle Scout, Sommella, along with fellow troop members and local volunteers, constructed five bat houses and installed them in Veterans Memorial Park in East Meadow. He was inspired after losing a neighbor to West Nile Virus.

East Meadow Kiwanis Gives Back: East Meadow Kiwanis recently donated funds raised at the July 22 gold outing at Eisenhower Park to several organizations, including Easter Seals and Breathe Believe.

Bomb Threat Received at Hempstead Town Hall: A bomb threat was called into Hempstead Town Hall Friday morning, leading to an evacuation of the building at 11:47 a.m., a town spokesperson confirmed. Hempstead Village Police and Nassau County Arson/Bomb Squad responded to the scene.
