Update: Closures and Cancellations

First major winter storm of 2014 could dump up to 9 inches of snow on East Meadow.

As Winter Storm Hercules continues to slam East Meadow, local colleges and community resources like the library continue to announce closures and cancellations.

Here's a rundown of what we know:

East Meadow Public Library: The East Meadow Public Library is closed Friday.

Garbage/Recycling Pickup: The Town's sanitation and recycling pickup for Friday is cancelled and collections will occur on the next regularly scheduled date.

NC Aquatic Center and Rifle Range: The Nassau County Aquatic Center and Rifle Range will open at 1 p.m. Friday.

Temple Emanu El of East Meadow: The Temple Emanu El office is closed Friday. At this time Shabbat Services remain scheduled for 7 p.m. and religious school is scheduled to be open on Saturday. Please keep checking here updates.

Nassau County Correctional Center: Visiting hours at the Nassau County Correctional Center are cancelled Friday.

Town of Hempstead Parks: All Parks and Recreation programs are cancelled Friday. All town senior centers, except for the East Meadow Senior Center, will be open on Friday; however, activities, classes and transportation are cancelled.

Adelphi University: The Adelphi University Garden City campus, Hauppauge and Manhattan Centers closed Thursday at 4:30 p.m. and will remain closed on Friday.

Nassau Community College: All classes, including activities, campus services other than public safety and physical plant at Nassau Community College are cancelled Friday.
