Some things to keep an eye out for in the local community.
- The North and Central Merrick Community Association (NCMCA) held a meeting on Thursday and the hot topic was a possible public takeover of Aqua New York and what that could mean for the community.

- Are you looking for a competitive ice hockey league? Island Ice Hockey may be what you're looking for. The season starts Sept. 30 and runs until Jan. 15, 2012.
