NUMC to Host Go Red Ceremony on Friday

Feb. 1 marks National Wear Red Day, in which individuals wear red to show their support of women with heart disease.

Nassau University Medical Center will host a "Go Red" event on Friday to raise awareness of heart disease in women.

According to the American Heart Association's website, heart disease is the number one killer in women and is more deadly than all forms of cancer. It kills one in three women every year.

Friday, Feb. 1 marks National Wear Red Day, in which individuals wear red to show their support of women with heart disease.

NUMC's event will include blood pressure screenings, raffles, giveaways and presentations from patient ambassadors and physicians.

The ceremony will take place at the medical center from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
