Nov. 5: East Meadow Schools Closed, Residents Donate to Sandy Victims

The five things you should know today.

1. The East Meadow School District has canceled classes on Monday due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy.

2. On Sunday, East Meadow residents donated hundreds of items to the East Meadow Fire Department's Disaster Drive for Hurricane Sandy Victims to help those who lost everything due to Hurricane Sandy.

3. LIPA reported that as of Sunday evening, thousands of East Meadow residents were on their sixth day without power.

4. Gov. Andrew Cuomo said fuel shortages will continue into this week, but said more supply is flowing and expects the gas crunch to get better by the weekend.
