3. Fifteen days after Hurricane Sandy hit Long Island, thousands of East Meadow residents remained without power. Acting Presiding Officer Norma L. Gonsalves said that she was told that all residents would have their electricity back by tonight.

4. Despite anger towards LIPA, Long Islanders showed their appreciation for local and out-of-state crews who worked long hours to restore power.
