Nassau County's second annual New Year's Eve DASH kicks off at midnight in East Meadow.

The 5K race and New Year's Eve party will benefit the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD), according to county executive Ed Mangano.

Participants can begin arriving at 10 p.m. and gather at the Parking Field 6A starting line beginning at 11:45 p.m. to watch the Times Square countdown to the New Year before running two loops around Eisenhower Park at exactly midnight.

The 5K course, which is USTAF certified and professionally timed, will be lighted and feature music, Mangano said. A water stop and champagne stop will be located on the course. All participants will have access to the locker rooms in the Nassau County Aquatic Center.

Participants will finish in Parking Field 6A where a party tent will be set up for a post-finish line New Year's Eve party featuring a DJ, buffet food, open bar, coffee and desserts. All participants will also receive a T-shirt and party favors; all race finishers will receive a finisher medal. Awards will be given to the overall top three males and female finishers.

All volunteers are invited to take part in all the festivities. If interested, email volunteer@newyearsdash.com.

Fees for the New Year’s Eve DASH and party are as follows: $65 for runners and revelers and $50 for revelers only and runners 12 and under.
