Mangano Announces First Annual 5K New Year's Eve Dash

The event will take place in Eisenhower Park on Dec. 31.

Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano announced on Tuesday that the county will host its First Annual 5k New Year's Eve Bash in Eisenhower Park.

Nassau County teamed up with Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD) for the celebration to promote safe drinking and to prevent drinking while driving.

The start line will feature lighting, sound and video as the ball drops in Times Square. Participants will count down to 12 a.m. and start the race with a toast to the New Year.

After completing the race, attendees can enjoy a New Year's Eve party, which will take place in a tent adjacent to the Nassau County Aquatic Center. The party will include a buffet, drinks, music and dancing until 2 a.m.

The fee for runners and revelers will be $68 and revelers only and children 12 and under will have a fee of $50.

To register, visit the 5k New Year's Eve Bash website. Advanced Registration closes on Dec. 20.
