What's happening on Monday in East Meadow?

We've successfully made it through the first week of 2011, and now we have a fun-filled week ahead in the East Meadow community. Although it's still going to be chilly with only a high of 33 degrees today, there are plenty of things in East Meadow that can help you warm up.

1. There are plenty of meetings for parents to keep an eye out for in the East Meadow School District on Monday. We have the , and the All meetings start at 7:30 p.m.

2. The Friends of the EMPL are presenting It starts at 5 p.m. with the film "Away from Her." The film stars Julie Christie and is about a couple who have been married for decades. Their lives are shattered when the wife's memory starts to fade. An info session will follow at 7:30 p.m.

3. For the sports enthusiasts in the East Meadow community, there are basketball games on tap that may be of interest. On the boys' side, East Meadow High School hosts Port Washington at 7 p.m, and the girls travel to Schreiber High School to play Port Washington at 6:15 p.m. Clarke's sports are quiet Monday.

4. A Look Back: It was a sad weekend in the East Meadow and Westbury communities, as friends and family , the Clarke High School student who was last Tuesday. The funeral was held on Saturday, and friends got to say their final goodbyes.
